What the Heck is a MOAV?Thanks for asking. MOAV stands for Mother Of All Vacations. As we have since learned, this is actually a pretty small trip compared to those that others have taken. But the name is there and we're keeping it. The whole idea came up about 2 years ago while talking about having kids. We were talking about how much life changes once someone has kids. We agreed then to do something really cool before working on the little ones. At some point, the idea of a trip around the world came up. Seemed like a good plan. We talked about it from time to time and got serious about 6 months ago. The itinerary has morphed a couple of times in the last few months. We originally planned to start in Central and South America (Costa Rica, Peru, the Amazon, Brazil, etc.). While planning, we discovered that we could not easily get from South America to Africa with United. Additionally, the United ticket does not provide a lot of options in South America (note: United recently added a new partner somewhere in South America, which should make travel there more convenient). So, we cut out South America with a notion to go later and devote more time to that continent alone. The last major shift was a move from shorter stays at more locations to longer stays at fewer locations. We cut out Greece (wanted to sail, but it's chilly in October), Johannesburg, and Sydney. We now think we have time to enjoy the stops, with almost a week at every location. {back to top}Destination Pages OverviewEach destination page is organized in the same manner.
